One Day Project- Lockdown Project Development work: The image presented shows a number of small illustrations that my lockdown experience. These illustrations show how I've started to paint and I've been listening to music. These small drawings show a short narrative. I think that these illustrations are successful because of this. Also, I think the variety of lines that I've applied have added detail, texture and pattern. I believe that these illustrations could of been improved even further by adding colour to them digitally.
One Day Project- Favourite Meal Work: I have developed my favourite meal piece for the one day projects. I've tried developing this piece of work by adding more text along with the images. I believe that this has made my work more successful because it has given my work more of a narrative. I've used text to emphasize on certain panels. Such as showing how the three bears are hungry by adding rumble!, rumble!. Also, I've used text to add a clearer narrative on some of steps. The rest of the layout I've kept the same as I think the limited colour scheme works well together. To improve this piece, I think that the font of the text could be altered to match the illustration much better. Also, I'm not certain on whether using yellow for text is effective.
Final Storyboard: For this piece of work, I've created another storyboard. Within this storyboard, I wanted to visually communicate how Boudicca is being adopted into the royal family and how she is being taken to her new home. I believe that this storyboard is more successful than the previous one because I've experimented more with using different angles and perspectives. Also, I believe that this storyboard is much clearer based on the story being shown. I think the uses of lines have made my storyboard effective because they show the uses of pattern and texture. To improve this storyboard, I do think that applying colour would of make my illustrations more effective.
Value Range Work: For this task, I've created two pieces of work that present the uses of value ranges. For both illustrations, I have used the grayscale to choose which tone are suitable. For both illustrations, I've made the tones become lighter as they reach the background. My first piece of work presents a illustration of a cottage. I like this piece because I've applied the uses of tone, lighting and mark making. I believe that the uses of lighting and tone within this piece are effective because I've been able to create shadows on the side of the cottage. I think my illustration could of been improved even further by applying line work onto the grass to add texture. My second piece of work presents and illustration on some mountains. I like this piece of work because the scenery has a mixture of tones yet the sky is one simple tone. Folded Format: Final Outcome: I've now finished making my folded format outcome. The images presented show the front, back and inside of my folded format. For my final outcome, I've used a Turkish fold. I believe that this type of fold is well suited to the inside illustrations presented. The inside of the roundhouse reveals a birds eye view of the home. I'm happy with how the layout has worked so that the cut outs can be re-arranged. I decided on this idea because I wanted my folded format to be educational and aimed at a young target audience. I believe that the designs and layout could allow young readers to visually learn about the Celts and how they lived. Outside of Roundhouse Design: I've continued to make my final illustrations for my folded format. The design that I've made presents the outside of the roundhouse. To make this outcome, I had drawn it traditionally by using a fine liner. Then I scanned the design into Photoshop. For the colour schemes, I've continued to use suitable colours that match other elements within my design. I think that this piece is successful because I've used a range of lines to suggest the uses of tone and texture. However, I do believe that this design could of been improved even further by adding more hints of tone to the wall of roundhouse. Adding more tone would of presented the uses of lighting and shadows. For my next pieces of work, I need to finish creating my roof and pocket designs.
