Mock up Design: I've now started to create a mock-up of my final design. I've used paper and pencil. Using pencil has been effective because I've been able to apply a variety of lines to suggest patterns and textures.  The images presented show the front and back of my mock-up design. The back of the roundhouse has a pocket so that the small cut outs that I've made can be put away after use.  Making this mock-up has been useful because I've been able to see if my design is successful.  I'm now going to continue to develop this design by creating another version that presents the uses of colour. Also, I think that I need to think about paper stocks and how they could add texture to my design.

Velcro Book Research: I've started to collect together some images that present examples of interactive books. Collecting these images together has been useful because I want my folded format to be educational and aimed towards young readers.  I think that the examples presented are successful because they help young readers to learn by using the illustrations.  I like some of these outcomes because they present the uses of experimenting with different mediums.

Colour Schemes: Before I begin to develop my roundhouse design even further, I've started to think about colour schemes. I've gathered two images that present the inside of a roundhouse. After gathering these images, I've begun to use Adobe Illustrator to pick out certain colours to make colour palettes. I've chosen images that present different uses of lightening and shadows so the colour palettes will vary.  I thought that this would be useful as I can see which colours would be effective. These colour palettes will allow me to think about which colours would add realism to my design.  Another reason why I believe that making these colour palettes was useful is because it is going to help me to keep the colour scheme limited.  Now I can start to experiment with different colour schemes to see which colours will work well together. I'll produce varied pieces that will show stages of design development.

I've continued to develop my ideas for my final piece by creating a mock up version of my sketched design. Previously, I've drawn a roundhouse design that I considered applying within a Turkish fold. I've made the Turkish fold so I can start to see how my design should look based on the layout and proportions.  Also, I've now began to add words next to objects because I want my design to be educational. Making this design so far has been helpful because I've been able to see how it can be altered and improved. For example, to make the house design more rounded, I need to cut the corners.  I'm now going to continue to develop this design by thinking about others way on how I can make this layout interactive. Also, I need to consider what colour scheme I'm going to use.

I've now started to create sketches that show possible outcomes for this module. When sketching these designs, I've thought about the layout. Because I've recently researched about paper folds and interactive books, I'd like to apply my visual research to my final outcome.  For this design, I've sketched out an outside and inside view of a roundhouse. The two left drawings show the front and back view. The sketch on the right shows the fold that I will use. The fold that I've considered using for my work is the Turkish fold. I believe that this method will be effective because it will reveal a birds eye view of the inside of the roundhouse. I will use the folds to add objects onto the  walls, such as: shields, swords etc.  I think this design is effective because it is suitable for my chosen target audience. My piece of work is aimed towards young children. Therefore, I am going to develop this design to make it educational. I could do this by adding words next...

After researching into what a roundhouse looks like on the outside and inside. I've now began to create some illustrations that can influence my final outcome. For both of these illustrations I've used pen to apply a variety of lines. I think that the mark making within these drawings are effective because they show the uses of detail, tone and texture.  To improve on these illustrations, I could try drawing the inside of the roundhouse from different angles. Drawing from different angles will be useful so that I can show the uses of design development.

One Day Project- Lockdown Project Outcome: I've created another piece of work for the lockdown project for the one day brief. Because my other outcome was made traditionally. This time I tried experimenting digitally. I like this piece of work because I like the colour scheme that I've used. Also, I like how the small illustrations have a graphic design style to them.  However, compared to my previous outcome, I do believe that the uses of mark making is not as effective. These illustrations have less detail to them. Including less uses of pattern and texture.
